As I have said before, I feel fortunate to live in America’s Garden Capital where I can explore over 30 public gardens within the Philadelphia metropolitan area. One of those public gardens, the Morris Arboretum, invited me to visit during the month of October to see their fall displays and Halloween décor. Located in Chestnut Hill, PA the arboretum is less than ½ hour drive from my home. I made the trip and spent a wonderful afternoon immersed in nature.
Upon entering the arboretum, the Scarecrow Walk greeted me. A cartoon theme inspired a lot of creative entries. Each entrant hoped to win a cash prize for garnering the most votes from visitors.
A pumpkin covered cottage served as the perfect place to take selfies and was a nod to the arboretum’s history when the surrounding area was known as ‘Pumpkintown.’ Turns out pumpkins have always been a key part of the local culture.
The staff ensured seasonal décor and fall colors were distributed throughout the 92 acres. Each container and all sections of the garden included pumpkin accents or autumnal plants and colors. Signs around the Arboretum provided information on how individuals can make an impact each and every day to help our planet thrive.
If you live in the Philadelphia area, take some time to visit before the end of the month. Relax and enjoy a nice fall day meandering around the garden with family or friends. I’m confident your visit will bring you joy, laughter and the ability to unwind in a magical setting.
