Lasting Landscapes by Carol was first recommended to us by a neighbor when we decided to refresh the
beds surrounding our townhome. After doing a bit of research and reviewing Carol’s website, we were
confident she could help us come up with a design that reflected the look we were trying to achieve.
Because we live in a townhome community, it was important to us to design a garden space that would
reflect our personal style and not look like every other garden in the community. We also wanted
plantings that would offer color and interest throughout the year and would have a somewhat low
profile that would allow each of the plants to be seen distinctly. In addition, it was important that none
would grow so big that they would obscure the front of the house or block the light. Finally, we needed
to have plantings that could withstand the sometimes overzealous pruning of the community’s
landscape maintenance firm.
We were delighted by the designs and the plant recommendations that Carol gave us and are thrilled
with the outcome now that everything is planted! Carol exceeded all our expectations in this regard!
She is also easy to work with, which makes the process a pleasure.

Carol agreed to help me figure out a way forward with the existing gardens at our home. When she said yes, I had no idea how lucky I was. Carol walked the spaces with me, taking photos and talking through ideas including the need for an easier to maintain and cost-effective result. She produced plans that edited out some things, reused 98% of the existing plant material, and introduced new plants. Carol is an expert at “right plant, right place”. This isn’t the easiest property to work, landscapers before Carol relied on augers for digging. Not Carol. She and her assistant not only did an astonishing amount of work in two days of implementation during the fall, they did so with straightforward tools, and superior skills. Looking at the changes made in the fall makes me happy, I cannot wait for the next phase which will include more edits, drifts of new plants, and reduced mulched areas. Carol implemented a cost-conscious approach that included the use of existing perennials. I had the opportunity to provide input throughout the process, and we decided on a phased approach. Carol’s philosophy to include plants that fill the space when they are mature - without the need for extensive, ongoing pruning - is music to my ears!
Carol has been weeding and pruning throughout my property for well over a year. Her method of getting the roots of the weeds, combined with targeted treatment for hearty weeds and invasive plants, is showing the desired results.
